Gathering Wild Food

Believe it or not, we are surrounded by plants that are edible. Popping up as ‘weeds’ in your garden, along the roadside, next to the river… or on the mountain. The animals still know what wild food to eat, so do the birds – it’s just us humans who have gotten used to only eating what the local supermarket provides. Many weeds are far higher in nutritional value than what is available on the shelves, others (including indigenous plants) are herbal and even medicinal. Freely available, seasonal, no need to put energy into growing them – and you can eat them fresh. Self sufficiency and food sovereignty include being able to identify wild foods, so if you are not yet clued up on these then join us and learn!
